Majilite Corporation Adds Solar Power to Energy Mix

Construction Under Way on 400 Kilowatt Solar Power System at Company's Massachusetts Headquarters

Dracut, Mass.—Dec. 22, 2008 – Majilite Corporation, a Meridian Industries, Inc. company, announced that construction is now under way on a 400 kilowatt (kW) solar power system at its Dracut, Mass. headquarters and manufacturing facility. For over 65 years, Majilite Corporation (www.majilite.com) has been a manufacturer and distributor of high performance, specialty materials used in the commercial, consumer and industrial worlds. It is most noted for the creation of Nytek, a microfiber product which combines distinctive aesthetics with advanced engineering. Majilite employs 140 people at its Dracut, Mass. facility which was expanded in 2004 with state-of-the-art production equipment.

The photovoltaic solar installation is being constructed by Constellation Energy's Projects & Services Group, which will own the energy assets and sell the electricity it generates on site to Majilite under a 15-year power purchase agreement. The system is expected to be completed in December 2008.

"In evaluating Majilite's energy options, we found that we are able to deploy a solar power system that does not increase our energy costs or require a prohibitive upfront capital expenditure," said Mike Willwerth, president of Majilite Corporation. "Working with Constellation Energy to structure a long term solar power purchase agreement, where the system costs and federal and state incentives are incorporated into the price of the power, allowed Majilite to support clean, sustainable power in a financially sound way."

The system will feature 2,490 Uni-Solar 136-watt, thin film solar panels, which are lightweight, flexible photovoltaic material that can be easily applied directly to existing rooftops. Constellation Energy's Projects and Services Group estimates the project will reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 208 metric tons annually. The 400 kW system is expected to supply approximately 16 percent of the energy for Majilite's Dracut, Mass. facility.

"We are pleased to be working with Majilite and expanding our solar energy presence in the Massachusetts marketplace, which is taking a lead role in the U.S. in encouraging the use of on-site renewable energy," said Greg Jarosinski, president of Constellation Energy's Projects & Services Group. "Constellation Energy's Projects & Services Group provides the right mix of financial and construction experience to customize solar and other renewable energy projects to fit customers' operational and fiscal needs."

Constellation Energy's Projects & Services Group has initiated a total of approximately five megawatts of on-site solar power systems for customers nationwide over the last 18 months. Constellation Energy's Projects and Services Group (www.ceprojects.com) is the energy services arm of North America's largest retail and wholesale energy company, Constellation Energy. Serving business and institutional customers nationwide, Constellation Energy's Projects and Services Group specializes in financial and environmental solutions that can significantly reduce energy consumption and costs. Constellation Energy's Projects and Services Group delivers the technical expertise to develop large scale energy projects, such as solar, biomass and geothermal projects and on- or off-site power generation systems. The company also designs and implements full energy systems retrofits that save energy and reduce harmful emissions.
